Hi Everyone

I hope you all had a wonderful time at reunion.  I heard incredible things about the weekend and can only imagine that our next one will be even bigger and better.  How’s that?  How can we make our reunion as kick-ass as some of the other classes that had live bands to dance the night away, great food, and yes, copious amounts of alcohol?  Well, that’s where the class dues come into play.

I know it may feel like Wellesley asks for money every month, but here’s the skinny:

-Class dues are different from other money that is given to the college.

-Dues do not get paid to the college, but go directly to our class treasury for the benefit of the class.

-The dues are used to host fun events for alumnae on off-reunion years, pay for mailings, and fund reunions. Our reunions are difficult to plan and fund without a healthy treasury.

-We have a two-level dues structure for your choosing: the lifelong class membership and yearly dues.

  • If you pay the lifelong membership, you’ll never have to pay again!
  •
  • We’ve kept the lifelong dues at $97 for the past 10 years. As of January 1, 2009, we will be raising them to $197, so get in while the getting’s good.
  • You can also pay an annual fee of $19.97.
  • The money is invested together with the College endowment and gives us a source of income that has historically had great returns.

-          Some of the older classes which have a substantial fund have used it to do things like helping pay for reunion expenses, off-setting the cost of reunion registration, throwing parties, and endowing scholarships.

Dues are a tax deductible way to have fun and stay connected to the big W and your classmates, so please make your checks out to “Wellesley Class of 1997”. Checks should be mailed to PO Box… We are also working on payments directly through PayPal so stay tuned to our next class mailing and website for updates.
